This album is one of the best Judas Priest records, period. I think Screaming for Vengeance was the last one without a guest vocalist. It made the band seem like they were playing a lot more music than they actually were. In my opinion, there aren’t any bad songs on this record, period, but they’re not many good ones either.
I’m not saying that Priest are a bad band, but their extravagant ‘80s sound isn’t what I would call timeless. I’ve heard a lot of Judas Priest songs since I was a teen, and I’m just now finally moving away from “this is my favorite Judas Priest album!”, but Screaming For Vengeance is still my favorite — mainly because I love Priest in general — and it produced one of my favorite songs ever too: “Beyond the Pale”.
